How to Not Get Sick this Winter

May 11, 2017

You probably don’t need reminding but Winter is Coming. No, we’re not talking the new season of Game of Thrones, although we would like to. We are talking the cold season. Beyond this, we’re talking about how not to get a cold this winter. Read on for the best tips on how to keep yourself healthy this winter.

Wash Your Hands

It’s recommended that one of the best ways to prevent an illness is to wash your hands. You’re probably thinking ‘well, of course, I do this already!’. We’re talking about washing an incessant amount though, almost so often you can’t handle it. By doing this, you’re getting rid of those pesky germs that do you no good. If you don’t have the time or permanent access to a faucet, maybe try some hand sanitizer instead.

Get A Flu Shot

This is probably the most effective way to protect yourself from any winter ills. By getting yourself vaccinated you’re not only protecting yourself but those around you. You can still get the flu, although it is unlikely and you might just get the strain at half-strength which is good news considering how monstrous influenza can be. So, talk to your doctor about your options today.

Touch Nothing

We know this one is very ridiculous. If you’re serious about not getting sick though, stay away from touching things that other people have touched. We’re not saying you need to start living in a bubble, just be cautious around door handles and things like traffic light buttons and whatnot. Make disposable gloves or only ever handling things with a tissue the new thing around the office.

In General, Be Healthy

You probably knew this one was coming. Yes, being healthy is probably a pretty good way to fortify yourself against winter chills and ills. You know the drill, eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, exercise, don’t smoke or drink, get enough sleep, meditate. I think we all know we feel better when we’re being healthy.

Relax

Take a chill pill, dude. Several studies have shown that stress and both mental and physical health can often be correlated. Although, it is hard to measure the effects of stress in the human body because it affects everyone differently. Although, like general health, reducing stress levels are always beneficial to people, so, take a breather and smell the daisies!

In saying all of this, there is little evidence that connects lifestyle to immunity. However, it’s pretty apparent that health = wealth. So, as long as you stay clean, healthy and happy then hopefully your immunity barrier will remain better fortified than that of Winterfell.
